How Therapy Works — Simple and Real
Starting therapy can feel like a big step — especially if you’ve never done it before.
Here’s what working with me looks like, in three simple steps.
Step 1 - Your Free Call
A 20-minute “getting to know you” chat (phone)
A chance to share what’s been feeling heavy and ask any questions.
No pressure, no obligation — just a conversation to see if it feels like the right fit.
If it doesn’t click, I’ll point you toward someone who may be better suited.
Step 2 - Sessions That Fit around you.
Therapy should fit your life, not the other way around. Most of the teachers I work with are already stretched thin — so we’ll make it practical:
Online across the UK — often easiest after school, no travel, just your space.
In-person in Brierley Hill, West Midlands— if you prefer being in the room.
By phone — if you need maximum flexibility.
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly to begin with. As we go, we can move to fortnightly or monthly — whatever works best.
Cost: £55 per session.
This is your time — no two sessions look the same. Some weeks you’ll know exactly what’s on your mind, other weeks you might just feel “full” and not know where to start. Both are okay.
Here’s how it often flows:
Check-in — how have things been since we last met?
Exploring together — space to unpack what’s in your “backpack”: the guilt, overthinking, perfection, and people-pleasing that weigh you down. We might use metaphors (like the backpack or laptop) to make sense of it.
Noticing the shifts — connecting the dots, finding patterns, and making space for confidence, calm, and your own voice again.
You set the pace. You don’t have to share more than feels safe, and there’s room for honesty, humour, and even swearing if that’s what the week calls for.
Step 3- What Sessions Are Like
Over Time, Therapy Can Help You…
→ Feel lighter, with more room to breathe
→ Say no without guilt, and yes to what matters
→ Rebuild confidence and self-esteem
→ Switch off after school, instead of running on empty
→ Trust your own voice again
