I offer therapy to Children and young people, from age nine years and above. Together I work with them to create a safe space for them to explore their emotions. I know that sometimes feelings can be tricky to understand and can leave us feeling anxious, unsure and a little confused. I can support them to understand themselves better. It is really important that the children and young people have a voice. I work hard to support you to develop your awareness of who you are and to strengthen your resilient in a world that is ever changing.
My approach when offering any therapy is to place the client at the centre of the work. All children and young people are unique, I aim to ensure all therapy sessions are children and young person focused, age appropriate and have their needs in mind. I pride myself in my ability to get to know the client I take the time to understand who they are, their likes and dislikes. This helps me to build rapport with them, shows my interest in hearing from them and are keen to learn about how things are.
At times it can be difficult to find the words to say what it is that we so desperately want to get out and off our chest. I am a therapist that thinks outside the box sometimes. I have had great success in using creative methods to support my clients to express and process their struggles without needing words. I have worked with art materials, sand and puppets and a dolls house.
I want to promote a sense of calm and wellness for those I work with, I see this space as a space to feel heard, valued and respected. I am also sometimes a little bit of a teacher, teaching clients skills and techniques that can be used outside of the therapy room and be moved into their everyday lives.
